Laia Bohigas

Director, playwright and actress, she was born in Girona and graduated in Stage Direction and Dramaturgy from the Institut del Teatre of Barcelona and in Interpretation from the Col.legi del Teatre. She has been assistant director to Fabrice Murgia at Dies Blancs premiered at the Teatre Lliure de Gràcia in Barcelona in January 2022 and assistant director in the opera production Flash Flash under the direction of Erik Söderblom that premiered at the Musica Nova Festival in Helsinki. In the same city, she also completed an Erasmus program at the Theater Academy in Helsinki, expanding her experience in the field of performance and ritualistic theater under the mentorship of Eero-Tapio Vuori, stage director and ritual artist. She has directed Una, an adaptation of David Harrower’s Blackbird and Lights Out, a creative show at the Institut del Teatre. He has also directed Io a questo mondo la mano non la stringo by Lüder Wilcke for the Metropolis International Art Project in Milan.

Trained in videography by film director Sami van Ingen and visual artist Ewa Górzna, and passionate about stage interdisciplinarity, she has participated as a lead playwright in dance-music-theater-theater productions Some People, released in 2016 at the Theaterhaus in Stuttgart, and Mother I want to be a fisherman, premiered in 2019 at the La Mercè Cultural Center in Girona. She is currently the co-playwright of Casa d’àngels, a new creation of dance, music and literature that premieres in December 2022 at the Kursaal in Manresa. Laia has also been production assistant at the Girona en Moviment festival since 2017.
